The Chairman of Eti-Osa Local Government, Omo’ba Alimot Adetoro, has presented a proposed budget of N6.81 billion for the 2026 fiscal year, with significant funding earmarked for road rehabilitation and drainage projects aimed at addressing flooding within the council area.
Adetoro presented the budget proposal to the Eti-Osa Legislative Council on Monday, stating that the spending plan underscores her administration’s focus on infrastructure development, environmental sustainability, and improved quality of life for residents.
She identified poor road conditions and persistent flooding as major challenges affecting several communities in Eti-Osa, noting that the 2026 budget prioritises durable solutions through extensive drainage construction and the rehabilitation of key roads.
According to the council chair, upgraded infrastructure will improve transportation, boost economic activities, reduce environmental risks, and enhance the overall resilience of local communities.
The proposed budget, which she described as people-centred and development-oriented, also includes allocations for environmental sanitation and reforms in waste management to promote a cleaner and healthier Eti-Osa.
Adetoro called on members of the Legislative Council to expedite the passage of the budget, describing it as a social contract intended to deliver tangible and measurable benefits across the local government area.
