NDLEA Launches Digital Portal for Drug Testing and Visa Clearance Certificates

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has introduced a new digital platform aimed at simplifying the process of obtaining drug integrity tests and visa clearance certificates. This initiative is part of the agency’s broader efforts to improve transparency, accessibility, and operational efficiency.

The platform, known as the Drug Integrity Test and Visa E-Administration System, was officially launched on Tuesday in Abuja by NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Marwa (retd). Speaking through the Agency’s Secretary, Shadrach Haruna, Marwa described the innovation as “a paradigm shift in our fight against substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking.”

He explained that the digital system aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and represents NDLEA’s integrated approach to drug control — addressing both supply and demand reduction strategies.

“For years, obtaining an NDLEA Visa Clearance Certificate — required by some source and transit countries — has been hampered by paperwork, in-person appearances, and prolonged verification processes,” he noted.

“The manual process was undoubtedly vulnerable to human interference, delays, and numerous other challenges,” he stated.

He explained that the newly introduced system fully automates all procedures related to drug integrity testing and visa clearance. It also integrates seamlessly with partner agencies, effectively removing the issues of human involvement and delays.

Marwa noted, “With the launch of the Online Visa Clearance Portal today, we are eliminating those long-standing bottlenecks.”

He added, “This system ensures automation across every aspect of drug integrity testing and visa clearance operations. It features interfaces that enable efficient collaboration with partner agencies.”

He further emphasized that the platform includes provisions for private medical facilities to become accredited partners for conducting drug integrity tests.

According to him, applicants can now visit the NDLEA website to create accounts, schedule appointments, and complete their applications entirely online, without the need to physically visit NDLEA offices.
