Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has strongly condemned the suicide bomb attack that occurred at a mosque in Gamboru Market, Maiduguri, on Wednesday evening.

According to reports, a suspected suicide bomber infiltrated the mosque during Maghrib prayers, detonating an explosive device that killed five worshippers and left 35 others injured.

Governor Zulum described the attack as a heinous act and a grave violation of the sanctity of a place of worship, especially at a time when Muslim faithful were engaged in prayer.

He called for heightened vigilance and strengthened security measures, particularly around places of worship and public spaces during the festive period.

The governor extended his deep condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the attack and offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the deceased as well as the swift recovery of the injured.
