Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Hon. Victor Akande, a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, who passed away on Wednesday.
Describing the loss as both shocking and painful, the Governor noted that Hon. Akande, a lawyer and former representative of Ojo Constituency I in the Eighth and Ninth Assemblies, was a significant figure whose death is a great loss to both the people of Ojo and the entire state.
In a statement released on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu extended his condolences to the late lawmaker’s family, friends, and political associates, particularly in Ojo Constituency I, which Akande served diligently for eight years.
He said, “On behalf of my family, the state government, and the people of Lagos State, I mourn the passing of Hon. Victor Akande. The news of his death came as a shock to me. It was a great loss to his family, our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), the people of Ojo, and Lagos State at large.
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, political associates, professional colleagues, and members of our party, APC, on the passing of Hon. Victor Akande.
“We have lost a committed and selfless politician, who spent his life to serve humanity, particularly the people of Ojo State Constituency I, whom he represented at the Lagos State House of Assembly for eight years.
“He did his best for Lagos State as a lawmaker and Chairman of the House Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Petitions, and LASIEC during his sojourn in the Assembly.
“I pray that God will grant the soul of our beloved Hon. Victor Akande eternal rest and comfort the immediate and political family of the deceased with the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
