The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the Kaura-Namoda South Constituency by-election in Zamfara State inconclusive.
Announcing the decision, the Returning Officer, Professor Lawal Sa’adu of the Federal University, Gusau, stated that the margin between the top two candidates was smaller than the number of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collected in polling units where the election was cancelled.
Elections were cancelled in two registration areas:
- Sakajiki (Code 06) – 2 polling units affected, with 1,357 registered voters and 1,298 PVCs collected.
- Kyambarawa (Code 05) – 3 polling units affected, with 4,088 registered voters and 1,964 PVCs collected.
Total affected:
- 5,446 registered voters
- 3,265 PVCs collected
The inconclusive status means supplementary elections will be required to determine the outcome.
