The Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Tai Benedict, has officially resigned from the party.
In an exclusive interview with our correspondent on Friday, Benedict revealed that he would formally join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Saturday, August 23.
“I have resigned with immediate effect,” he confirmed. “I will officially join the ADC on Saturday. Some leaders of the party, along with key PDP members, will be in Lagos for the event.”
Benedict cited the ongoing internal crisis within the PDP as his reason for leaving, describing the party’s current state as chaotic and irredeemable.
“There’s no option but to leave. For the first time in history, the party is holding conventions in two different locations. Rather than resolving tensions, things are only getting worse,” he lamented.
Expressing deep disappointment, Benedict stated that the PDP no longer holds any political value.
“Anyone remaining in the PDP is simply wasting time. It’s painful to say this about a party I once held dear, but sadly, it has now become an extension of the All Progressives Congress (APC),” he said.
His resignation letter, addressed to Fausat Adenuga, Chairman of Ward J1 in Ibonwon, Eredo, Epe Local Government Area, reads:
“This is to notify you of my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ward J1, Epe Local Government, Lagos State.
I appreciate the opportunity to have served in various capacities, including my current role as Deputy State Chairman, from which I am resigning today, August 22, 2025, with immediate effect.
