Finance Minister Wale Edun has assured Nigerians that the proposed 5% tax on petroleum products will not be implemented anytime soon.
Speaking in Abuja, Edun clarified that while the levy is part of the broader tax framework scheduled for 2026, no decision has been made to enforce it without due process.
He explained that the surcharge, rooted in the 2007 FERMA Act, is not a new initiative by the Tinubu administration, but a long-standing provision yet to be activated.
