The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to conduct a mock accreditation exercise in Anambra State on Saturday, October 25, to test the functionality of its upgraded Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) ahead of the November 2025 governorship election.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Victoria Eta-Messi, INEC’s Director of Voter Education and Publicity, said the mock exercise will be held across selected polling units in the three senatorial districts of the state.
According to INEC, the objective of the mock exercise is to evaluate the performance and response time of the BVAS devices and assess the efficiency of result uploads to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IReV).
“The mock accreditation exercise will allow INEC to test the upgraded BVAS, assess its response time, and ensure the smooth uploading of results to the IReV portal ahead of the main election,” the statement noted.
Polling units selected for the mock exercise are located in the following local government areas:
- Awka South
- Idemili North
- Oyi
- Anambra East
- Aguata
- Orumba North
INEC urged registered voters in the affected areas to participate actively, stressing that their involvement is critical to fine-tuning both the technological and logistical components of the commission’s election operations.
PVC Collection for New Voters Begins October 22
INEC also announced that the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for newly registered voters in Anambra will begin on Wednesday, October 22, and end on Sunday, October 26.
The commission stated that only voters who participated in the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise are eligible to collect their cards. These voters must collect their PVCs from the same registration centres where they initially enrolled.
INEC emphasized that PVC collection is strictly personal—no proxy pickups will be allowed.
“All registered voters are strongly encouraged to collect their PVCs within the designated timeframe to ensure eligibility to vote in the upcoming Anambra governorship election,” the commission stated.
INEC reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, technological reliability, and maintaining public confidence as preparations for the 2025 Anambra governorship election intensify.
