On the eve of Lagos State’s local government elections, Chief Judge Justice Kazeem Alogba has officially inaugurated two Local Government Election Appeal Tribunals to handle post-election disputes.
The panels, one based on Lagos Island and the other in Ikeja, each comprises four chief magistrates and is led by a retired High Court judge. Justice Taofikat Oyinkan-Abdullahi (retd.) heads the Island panel, joined by Magistrates Michael Olubi, Olaitan Ajayi, Salamah Matepo, and Hotepo Lazarus. Justice Sherifah Solebo (retd.) chairs the Ikeja panel, with Magistrates Davies Rasak, Oluwatosin Fowowe-Erusiafe, Adepeju Odusanya, and Lynda Balogun as members.
At the Friday inauguration held at the Ikeja High Court Conference Room, Justice Alogba urged tribunal members to uphold fairness, integrity, and legal fidelity. He also emphasized strict compliance with the timeline prescribed in the Lagos State Local Government Law (2016 Amendment), allowing 21 days for petition filing and 45 days for tribunal proceedings.
