EFCC: Haske declared wanted over long-standing probe, not ties to Atiku

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has stated that Abdullahi Bashir Haske was declared wanted over a long-standing investigation into alleged criminal conspiracy and money laundering—unrelated to his connection with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Addressing speculations that Haske’s relationship with Atiku influenced the EFCC’s decision, the commission’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, dismissed the claims as baseless.

“That is rubbish,” Oyewale told Daily Trust. “Haske has been under investigation for years. He was granted administrative bail but jumped the process. That’s why we declared him wanted. It has nothing to do with Atiku.”

The EFCC issued an official notice on Thursday, calling on the public to assist in locating Haske by reporting to any EFCC office or the nearest police station.
