FG endorses 2025 cultural hangout festival in Abuja

The Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy has officially endorsed the Cultural Hangout Festival (CHF) 2025, an initiative of the Platform for Cooperation on Mixed Migration (PCMM).

The festival, scheduled to take place from December 12–13, 2025, in Abuja, will commemorate the United Nations International Migrants Day under the theme: “Honouring the Contributions of Migrants and Respecting Their Rights.”

In an endorsement letter signed by Dr. Mukhtar Yawale Muhammed, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, the Federal Government described the festival as “a valuable platform that celebrates migrants, promotes cultural diversity, and projects Nigeria as a centre for dialogue on migration and inclusion.”

The Ministry also urged “the general public, development partners, and cultural stakeholders to support and collaborate with PCMM towards the successful hosting of the festival.”

Speaking on the endorsement, Aihawu Victor, Director of PCMM and Chief Executive Officer of the Cultural Hangout Festival, said the government’s support underscores Nigeria’s commitment to welcoming migrants and recognising their contributions to national development.

“Nigeria continues to stand out as a country that not only hosts migrants but gives them space to thrive,” Victor noted.

The Cultural Hangout Festival Abuja 2025 will feature country community tents, art and cultural showcases, trade exhibitions, and youth engagement sessions—all aimed at amplifying migrant voices and fostering unity through culture.
