A 22-storey building, Great Nigeria Insurance House, located on Martins Street, Lagos Island, has been engulfed by fire.
Emergency response teams, including the Shark Response Team, are currently on ground managing the situation.
Preliminary investigation by the Shark Response Team indicates that the fire originated from one of the apartments on the 4th floor and subsequently spread to other sections of the building. As of the latest update, the fire has extended up to the 6th floor of the 22-storey structure.

Casualties
The number of casualties is yet to be ascertained, as firefighting and rescue operations are still ongoing.
Emergency Response
A combined emergency response is currently in effect, involving:
- LASEMA Response Team
- Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service
- Federal Fire Service
- Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC)
- Nigeria Police Force
- Nigerian Red Cross
- LRU Paramedics
Additionally, the LRU Fire Unit has been fully activated and is actively battling the fire.
A total of six fire trucks and a skylift are presently deployed at the scene.
Current Status
Fire suppression and recovery operations are ongoing. Authorities continue efforts to bring the incident under control.
