2025 WAFCON: Ajibade, Nnadozie, Oshoala, 20 others make Super Falcons squad

Super Falcons head coach, Justine Madugu, has named a 24-player squad for the upcoming 13th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), with key stars including team captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, and forwards Francisca Ordega and Asisat Oshoala making the list.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the squad is set to pursue a record-extending 10th continental title at the tournament.

A portion of the team began training in Abuja on Thursday and will continue sessions on Friday and Saturday before departing for their final training camp in Lisbon, Portugal, on Sunday.

Also included in the squad are Saudi Arabia-based defender Ashleigh Plumptre, US-based fan favourite Michelle Alozie, veteran centre-back Osinachi Ohale, and midfield talents Deborah Abiodun, Jennifer Echegini, and Christy Ucheibe.

Home-based goalkeeper Rachael Unachukwu, along with defenders Sikiratu Isah and Miracle Usani, also earned call-ups. Midfield engine Halimatu Ayinde returns to the squad after a brief absence.

In preparation for the tournament, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has arranged friendly matches against the Portuguese and Ghanaian national teams. The Super Falcons will face Portugal in Lisbon on Monday, and then take on Ghana’s Black Queens in Morocco on June 29.

The 13th edition of WAFCON is scheduled to run from July 5 to July 26 in Morocco. Nigeria is placed in Group B alongside Tunisia, Botswana, and Algeria.
