Twenty-two people lost their lives early Tuesday morning when a speeding, overloaded trailer lost control and crashed in Niger State.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:40 a.m. near Tufa village along the Lambata-Lapai Road.
According to reports, the trailer was carrying 42 passengers. Twenty-two died at the scene, while 20 others sustained injuries and were taken to a medical centre in Lambata for treatment.
Confirming the incident, Aisha Saadu, Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Niger State, described the crash as a tragic event. She said the trailer was en route to Lagos from Kano when the accident occurred.
