The Supreme Court has reserved judgment in the suit filed by the Osun State Government against the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) over the alleged seizure of local government allocations.
A seven-member panel led by Justice Uwani Aba’aji took the decision on Tuesday after hearing arguments from Musbau Adetumbi (SAN), representing Osun, and Akin Olujimi (SAN) for the AGF.
In suit SC/CV/773/2025, Osun is asking the court to declare that the AGF violated the Constitution by refusing to release LG funds to duly elected council officials from the February 22, 2025 elections.
The state accuses the AGF of unlawfully diverting the funds to another set of officials backed by the APC, despite court rulings affirming the legitimacy of the February-elected councils.
Osun seeks an order compelling the AGF to immediately release all withheld LG allocations and deposit them into accounts controlled by the recognised, elected officials.
No judgment date has been announced.
