Manchester United have announced that midfielder Casemiro will depart the club when his contract expires this summer.
The Brazil captain joined United from Real Madrid in 2022 for £70 million and went on to make 146 appearances, scoring 21 goals. He played a key role in United’s 2023 Carabao Cup triumph, netting a crucial header against Newcastle United, and also helped the team win the 2024 Emirates FA Cup.
Casemiro expressed his gratitude in a statement:
“I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life. From the first day I walked onto this beautiful stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford and the love of our supporters. It is not time to say goodbye; there are still many memories to create in the next four months. My focus will remain on giving my all to help the club succeed.”
Currently one of the highest earners at Old Trafford, Casemiro leaves as a serial winner. The club thanked him for his contributions and announced that supporters will have the chance to honor him during the final home game of the season against Nottingham Forest.
