Nigeria’s oil and gas industry recorded $17.98 million in capital inflows in 2025, according to the latest report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). This marks a significant rise from the $5.12 million recorded in 2024, signaling a gradual return of investor confidence in the country’s hydrocarbon sector.
The increase in inflows coincides with strong performance in the gas sub-sector. Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) data shows gas export earnings grew by 21% to $10.51 billion in 2025, up from $8.66 billion in 2024.
Despite the growth, analysts note that inflows remain modest relative to the sector’s potential, as challenges like global oil price volatility, security concerns in oil-producing regions, and regulatory uncertainties continue to impact investor decisions.
Meanwhile, non-oil exports also saw strong growth, rising to N12.36 trillion in 2025 from N9.09 trillion in 2024, led by agriculture, manufacturing, and solid minerals.
To further harness the sector’s potential, NNPCL unveiled its Gas Master Plan 2026, aiming for 10 billion cubic feet of daily gas production, attracting $60 billion in investments, and expanding proven gas reserves from 210 trillion cubic feet to 600 trillion cubic feet.
These developments reflect growing momentum in Nigeria’s energy sector and ongoing efforts to diversify beyond crude oil.
