The 12th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) lit up Lagos on Saturday night as filmmakers, actors, producers and digital creators from across Africa gathered at the Eko Hotel and Suites to celebrate excellence in film and television.
The glamorous ceremony, broadcast live on Africa Magic channels and streaming platforms, honoured outstanding achievements in storytelling, production, costume design, sound, makeup and television writing.
Among the early winners announced at the event, “Colours of Fire” clinched the award for Best Costume Design, with Valerie Okeke receiving recognition for her creative work on the production.
In the Best Makeup category, “Warlord” emerged victorious, earning Hakeem Onilogbo the award ahead of several strong contenders.
“My Father’s Shadow” also secured a major win in the Best Sound/Sound Design category, with Pius Fatoke and CJ Mirra praised for their exceptional audio production work.
For television storytelling, “MTV Shuga Mashariki” won Best Writing – TV Series, with the writing team of Annette Shadeya, Natasha Likimani, Mkamzee Mwatela, Arnold Mwanjila, and Makgano Mamabolo taking home the prestigious award.
The AMVCA continues to serve as one of Africa’s biggest entertainment platforms, recognising creative excellence and spotlighting the continent’s growing influence in global film and television production.
