The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Sadiya Umar Farouq, wanted over allegations bordering on criminal conspiracy, abuse of office, and diversion of public funds.
The anti-graft agency announced the development through an official wanted notice published on its website, urging members of the public to provide useful information that could lead to her arrest.
According to the EFCC, the 52-year-old former minister, who served under ex-President Muhammadu Buhari between 2019 and 2023, is from Zamfara State, with her last known address listed in Maitama, Abuja.
In the notice signed by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the commission called on anyone with information about her whereabouts to contact any of its offices nationwide, the nearest police station, or reach the agency through its official communication channels.
The allegations against Farouq are linked to the alleged diversion and misuse of public funds during her time overseeing Nigeria’s humanitarian affairs ministry.
The EFCC’s move marks a significant escalation in ongoing investigations into the management of funds and social intervention programmes under the previous administration.
