The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has unveiled plans to launch a new digital portal designed to streamline drone and Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) operations across the country.
The platform will be officially introduced during the 6th Africa International Drone Technology Conference and Exhibition, DroneTecX 2026, scheduled to hold from May 12 to 16 at the NIGAV Expo Centre, Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
According to the NCAA, the portal represents a major milestone in modernising Nigeria’s drone regulatory framework and supporting the rapid growth of the industry.
The authority explained that the platform will simplify key processes such as drone registration, operator certification, compliance management, ownership transfers, and incident reporting for individuals, SMEs, and commercial drone operators.
The NCAA also noted that users will be able to submit applications, upload safety documentation, and monitor approval status in real time through the user-friendly portal, in line with the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations.
Stakeholders, drone operators, and service providers have been encouraged to explore the platform ahead of its official rollout and attend DroneTecX 2026 for live demonstrations and practical guidance.
Industry observers believe the initiative will reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, improve efficiency, and boost innovation within Nigeria’s expanding drone ecosystem.
