The race for elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections gathered momentum on Monday as Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and Plateau governorship aspirant Kefas Wungak Ropshik formally submitted their nomination forms at the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abuja.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, submitted her senatorial nomination forms as she seeks re-election in 2027.
The exercise attracted party supporters, political associates, and PDP faithful who gathered at the party’s Wadata Plaza headquarters in solidarity with the senator known for her advocacy on governance, women empowerment, and social inclusion.
Speaking after submitting the forms, Natasha thanked the people of Kogi Central and members of the PDP for their continued support and confidence in her leadership.
“I remain committed to the service of my people and the advancement of democratic values. This journey is not about personal ambition alone, but about sustaining purposeful representation, empowering our youths and women, and ensuring that the dividends of democracy reach every community,” she said.
The senator added that her priorities remain infrastructure development, education, healthcare delivery, and economic opportunities for constituents.
Supporters at the event described her as a courageous and accessible leader whose developmental projects and philanthropic efforts have strengthened her popularity across the district.
Meanwhile, Chief Ropshik also submitted his governorship nomination forms to formally join the Plateau State governorship race under the PDP platform.
The aspirant arrived at the party secretariat alongside members of his campaign council, youth groups, political associates, and supporters.
During the visit, Ropshik held consultations with Abdulrahman Mohammed, where discussions reportedly focused on party unity, inclusion, and governance in Plateau State.
Addressing journalists after the submission, Ropshik said his ambition is driven by service, responsibility, and a desire to provide credible leadership for Plateau people.
“My ambition is not driven by politics for its own sake. It is driven by responsibility, by experience, and by the conviction that Plateau deserves leadership that understands sacrifice, development and the true meaning of service,” he stated.
He further described his governorship aspiration as a people-focused movement aimed at promoting enterprise, inclusion, and sustainable development across the state.
Political observers within the PDP say the submission of nomination forms by both aspirants signals increasing momentum ahead of the party’s primaries and the broader 2027 electoral contest.
