Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Mbah announced the move in a state-wide broadcast, saying the decision was made after “deep reflection” and is aimed at aligning Enugu with the central government for better development opportunities.
“Leadership demands difficult, even painful decisions in service of higher goals,” Mbah said, thanking the PDP for its past support but stressing the need for a new political direction.
He praised President Bola Tinubu’s administration, saying Enugu has already benefited from federal support, and expressed confidence that joining the APC would accelerate growth and collaboration.
Mbah’s defection comes alongside House of Assembly members, council chairmen, and other key officials. Reports also suggest Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri is next, following earlier defections by Delta’s Sheriff Oborevwori and Akwa Ibom’s Umo Eno.
