Three construction workers were injured on Tuesday following the collapse of a building under construction in Akure, Ondo State.
The incident occurred at about 4:00 p.m. at a construction site located beside the former All Progressives Congress (APC) State Secretariat along Oba Adesida Road.
Witnesses said the workers were on duty when the building suddenly gave way. While three workers sustained injuries, one other worker reportedly escaped unhurt.
The injured workers were immediately rushed to the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), where they are currently receiving medical attention.
One of the site supervisors, Opeyemi Adeyemo, attributed the collapse to human error.
Meanwhile, the Ondo State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Sunday Olajide, confirmed that the site has been sealed off pending investigation. He stated that the government would determine both the immediate and remote causes of the collapse.
