ubaraRivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has expressed support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election, stating that Nigeria is under capable leadership and should continue on its current developmental path.
He made the remarks on Thursday in Port Harcourt while declaring open the meeting of the Southern Traditional Rulers Council, which brought together monarchs from the 17 southern states to discuss unity, security, and economic development.
Fubara said the present administration is recording progress in economic recovery and infrastructure delivery, including key coastal road projects, despite ongoing national challenges. He stressed that continuity in leadership is important, noting that “it is not ideal to change the goalposts in the middle of the game.”
The governor also called for unity among stakeholders in the South, urging collective action toward shared development goals. He added that Rivers State remains peaceful and capable of hosting major national engagements.
The meeting was chaired by the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, who said the council was convened to strengthen peace, unity, and cooperation across the southern region. He highlighted the region’s cultural diversity and emphasized the importance of collaboration in addressing national challenges.
The gathering, which is the fourth in the series, was attended by prominent traditional rulers from the South-South, South-East, and South-West, including the Obi of Obinugwu, Eze Cletus Illomuanya, and the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.
