The Supreme Court of Nigeria has set aside an order directing the African Democratic Congress to maintain the status quo in its leadership dispute, effectively restoring the leadership led by David Mark.
The apex court ruled that the Court of Appeal exceeded its jurisdiction by issuing the order after dismissing the case. It also directed all parties to return to the trial court for continuation of proceedings.
The ruling follows the earlier action by the Independent National Electoral Commission, which had removed David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola from its records pending resolution of the dispute.
