The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will take place from June 19 to July 17.
The tournament will be jointly hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania, although CAF has yet to decide which country will stage the opening match and the final.
The dates were approved by the FIFA Council during a meeting in Vancouver, Canada, following earlier concerns about the host nations’ level of preparedness. However, CAF President Patrice Motsepe dismissed fears of a possible postponement to 2028, reaffirming confidence in the hosts.
Motsepe stated that significant efforts had been made to ensure the competition returns to East Africa, expressing optimism that the three nations would successfully deliver the tournament.
This edition will be historic, as it will be the first AFCON hosted across three countries. It also marks the competition’s return to East Africa for the first time since the 1976 tournament held in Ethiopia.
