The Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed May 8, 2026, to rule on the no-case submission filed by activist Omoyele Sowore in his alleged cyberbullying trial involving President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The case was instituted by the Department of State Services (DSS), which is prosecuting Sowore on behalf of the Federal Government over alleged comments made on his X (formerly Twitter) handle describing the President as a “criminal.”
The matter was heard by Justice Mohammed Umar, who fixed the date after both the defence and prosecution adopted their final written addresses on the application.
Sowore’s counsel argued that the prosecution failed to establish any link between his client and the alleged offence, urging the court to dismiss the charges. However, the DSS insisted that it had established a prima facie case and urged the court to order the defendant to enter his defence.
After listening to both sides, the court adjourned the matter to May 8 for ruling on whether the case should proceed or be struck out.
