The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially commenced the implementation of a 30-day visa exemption policy for Rwandan nationals.
The development follows the announcement made by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Africa CEO Forum held in Kigali, Rwanda, where he disclosed Nigeria’s decision to grant visa-free entry to citizens of Rwanda for short stays.
According to the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), all necessary arrangements have been concluded to ensure the smooth implementation of the directive.
The policy is part of efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations, deepen regional integration, and promote easier movement between both African nations. It also serves as a reciprocal gesture following the Rwandan Government’s visa-free access granted to Nigerian citizens.
Authorities noted that the initiative is expected to enhance trade, tourism, business partnerships, and people-to-people relations between Nigeria and Rwanda.
The Nigeria Immigration Service reaffirmed its commitment to supporting government policies aimed at promoting continental cooperation and improving travel accessibility within Africa.
