President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has condemned the reported killing of one of the teachers abducted during the recent attack on schools in Esiele Community, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, describing the act as barbaric and inhumane.
The President gave the assurance as security agencies intensify ongoing rescue operations to secure the release of the remaining victims abducted during the attack on Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School in the area.
President Tinubu sympathised with Seyi Makinde, the government, and residents of Oyo State over the tragic incident, while assuring that the Federal Government is collaborating closely with the state government to ensure the safe rescue of all abducted victims.
“I am saddened by the reported killing of one of the teachers kidnapped by the gunmen who invaded the community. I sympathise with Governor Seyi Makinde and the affected families,” the President stated.
Tinubu also commended the Inspector-General of Police and security operatives in Oyo and Kwara States for their swift response and deployment of tactical and Intelligence Response Team (IRT) personnel to the affected area.
According to the President, the Inspector-General of Police is personally supervising the ongoing tech-driven operation aimed at rescuing the victims and apprehending the perpetrators and their collaborators.
He warned that all those involved in the attack would be identified and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The President further noted that the recurring incidents of kidnapping across parts of the country highlight the urgent need for the establishment of state police, urging the National Assembly to expedite legislative action on the matter.
Security agencies continue intensive operations in the area as efforts to rescue the remaining victims remain ongoing.
