Arsenal moved a step closer to ending a 22-year wait for the Premier League title after a narrow 1–0 win over Burnley at the Emirates Stadium on Monday.
Kai Havertz scored the only goal of the match with a first-half header from a corner, continuing Arsenal’s strong set-piece form this season. However, he also escaped a potential red card after a second-half VAR review ruled his challenge only a yellow.
The result gives Arsenal a five-point lead at the top of the table, with the title race now hinging on results involving defending champions Manchester City.
Arsenal could be crowned champions as early as Tuesday if City fail to win their match against Bournemouth. Even if City win their remaining fixtures, Arsenal can still secure the title with a victory at Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Despite the win, Arsenal struggled to break down a relegated Burnley side, and had to rely once again on their defensive strength to see out the match. The Gunners have now kept four consecutive clean sheets in the league since their defeat to City last month.
The title race remains finely balanced, with goal difference potentially still deciding the outcome depending on final results.
