The family of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, has raised concerns after Department of State Services (DSS) officials allegedly took him into custody following a court appearance at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
According to the family, the development occurred shortly after he was granted bail, with claims that his movement between agencies may have violated existing court orders directing that he remain in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Speaking to journalists, his wife, Hasiat el-Rufai, said the family was living under constant fear and described repeated threats and surveillance as distressing. She also alleged that her husband had been moved between custody locations despite court directives.
El-Rufai’s son, Hon. Bello el-Rufai, also criticised the bail conditions, describing them as overly strict and politically motivated.
The family demanded that he be returned to ICPC custody in line with court orders and called for access to his personal doctors and legal team.
However, security sources later confirmed that following consultations among legal representatives in the case, el-Rufai had been returned to ICPC custody by the evening.
The matter continues amid ongoing legal proceedings and public debate over custody arrangements and enforcement of court directives.
