On Tuesday, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, the wife of Lagos State Governor, promoted appropriate trash management to guarantee a cleaner Lagos and a higher standard of living for citizens.
Ibijoke made this statement at a one-day session for leaders in the Yaba Local Council Development Area on market sanitization and security at the Sabo Ultra-Modern Market in Yaba.
In partnership with the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs, and Rural Development, the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials organized the seminar.
Its purpose was to make market leaders more aware of the need to take precautions against potential risks in the marketplace.
She clarified that despite supporting various initiatives of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s efforts to promote market sanitation and safety, her administration has continued to emphasize the significance of hygiene, safety, and security in the markets.
“Without adequate waste management, we run the risk of severe consequences like food and water contamination, air and water pollution, which not only endanger the lives of consumers but also the lives of traders,” the governor’s wife stated.
But by meticulously following the state government’s requirements, we may change the narrative and, when done correctly, help turn these wastes into wealth.
