World number one Jannik Sinner extended his winning streak to 22 matches with a straight-sets victory over France’s Arthur Fils, triumphing 6–2, 6–4 in their semi-final clash at the Madrid Open.
The Italian star now advances to Sunday’s final, where he will be aiming to secure a record fifth consecutive Masters 1000 title. With Carlos Alcaraz sidelined through injury, Sinner is widely seen as the favourite to lift the trophy.
Sinner will face either Alexander Zverev or Alexander Blockx in the final showdown.
Reflecting on his performance, Sinner said he played at a high level but remains focused on continuous improvement as the tournament intensifies. He also acknowledged some physical fatigue due to his busy schedule, though he views it as a positive sign of consistent match play.
In the semi-final, Sinner dominated early, using his power and precision to take control of the first set. Fils showed more resilience in the second set, but Sinner delivered key shots at crucial moments to seal the win and book his place in another major final.
