Southampton F.C. have reportedly been expelled from the Championship playoffs after an Independent Disciplinary Commission found the club guilty of breaching EFL regulations relating to the unauthorised filming of rival teams’ training sessions.

According to reports by journalist Ben Jacobs, Southampton admitted to multiple violations involving the observation of opposition training activities within 72 hours of scheduled matches, including fixtures against Oxford United, Ipswich Town, and Middlesbrough.

The ruling also includes a four-point deduction for the 2026/27 season, further compounding the club’s troubles ahead of the new campaign.

Following the decision, Middlesbrough are expected to replace Southampton in the playoff fixture against Hull City on May 23, although Southampton reportedly retain the right to appeal the sanction.
