President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to embrace the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir by promoting tolerance, generosity, and peaceful coexistence across the country.
Speaking after observing the Eid prayers at Dodan Barracks in Lagos, the President called on citizens to reject ethnic divisions, hatred, and all forms of discrimination capable of threatening national unity.
President Tinubu described the sacred celebration as a reminder of the virtues of obedience, sacrifice, compassion, and total submission to the will of Almighty Allah, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
He stressed that Nigeria’s strength lies in its diversity and shared humanity, noting that no ethnic, religious, or political differences should stand in the way of peace, progress, and national development.
The President also encouraged Nigerians to support the less privileged, uphold the sanctity of human life, and reflect on the true lessons of the season, while condemning banditry and violence.
Among dignitaries present at the prayers were Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, former Governor Babatunde Fashola, Oba of Lagos Rilwan Akiolu, Chief of Staff to the President Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and other top government officials.
In his sermon, the Grand Chief Imam of Lagos State, Sheikh Sulaimon Abou-Nolla, urged Muslims to uphold unity, sacrifice, and generosity, while offering prayers for the continued peace and progress of Nigeria.
