The Nigerian Healthcare Excellence Award (NHEA) has officially opened nominations for its 12th edition, scheduled to take place on June 26, 2026, at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos.
Organisers have called on stakeholders across Nigeria’s healthcare sector to submit entries before the May 8, 2026 deadline.
According to the organisers, the 2026 edition will once again bring together healthcare leaders, professionals, institutions, policymakers, and other stakeholders from both the public and private sectors to celebrate excellence, innovation, quality, and measurable impact within Nigeria’s healthcare system.
The award, organised annually by Global Health Projects & Resources (GHPR) in partnership with Anadach Group, has grown to become one of the country’s most respected platforms for recognising outstanding contributions to healthcare delivery.
Broad-Based Categories
Speaking on the nomination process, the NHEA Project Director, Wale Alabi, stated that entries are now open across a wide range of categories reflecting the diversity and evolving nature of Nigeria’s healthcare ecosystem.
He explained that the categories cover Special Awards, Healthcare Delivery Services, and Biomedical Technology and Pharmaceuticals. These categories are open to both individuals and organisations demonstrating measurable impact through innovation, efficiency, quality care, and leadership.
Special Awards
Alabi disclosed that the 2026 Special Awards categories will include:
- Lifetime Achievement Award
- Outstanding Healthcare Financial Institution of the Year
- State Government Health Insurance of the Year
- Healthcare Media Excellence Awards (Print and Electronic)
- Special Recognition Awards for exceptional contributions to the sector
Healthcare Delivery Services
The Healthcare Delivery Services categories will recognise excellence across:
- Tertiary and secondary public and private healthcare facilities
- Health maintenance organisations
- Laboratories and radiology services
- IVF and dialysis centres
- Eye and dental care services
- Oncology and physiotherapy services
- Nursing and midwifery practice
Additionally, the PharmAccess SafeCare Quality Platform Awards will spotlight facilities demonstrating strong commitment to quality improvement and patient safety.
Biomedical Technology and Pharmaceuticals
In the Biomedical Technology and Pharmaceuticals categories, NHEA 2026 will honour innovation and professionalism through awards such as:
- DCL–NHEA Laboratory Innovation and Quality Improvement Award
- DCL–NHEA Laboratory Professional of the Year
- Biomedical Engineering Service Company of the Year
- Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company of the Year
- Technology-Driven Pharmaceutical Distributor of the Year
Transparent Selection Process
The organisers stated that nominations will close on May 8, 2026. All submissions will thereafter be compiled and assessed by an independent panel to ensure transparency, credibility, and fairness in the selection process.
