The Supreme Court has reserved judgment in two appeals filed by the Kabiru Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), challenging rulings that voided the party’s national convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November last year.
A five-member panel of the apex court, led by Justice Mohammed Garba, announced on Wednesday that the date for judgment would be communicated to all parties through their legal representatives.
The decision followed the adoption of written arguments and prayers by counsel representing the various parties in the case.
The first appeal, marked SC/CV/164/2026, was filed by the PDP against a Court of Appeal ruling in Abuja which upheld a Federal High Court judgment delivered by Justice Peter Lifu. The lower court had restrained the PDP from proceeding with its national convention without including former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido, among its participants.
The second appeal, SC/CV/166/2026, was filed by the PDP, its National Working Committee (NWC), and National Executive Committee (NEC), challenging another Court of Appeal decision which affirmed a Federal High Court ruling by Justice James Omotosho. That ruling had barred the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from monitoring the Ibadan convention until required conditions were fulfilled.
The Supreme Court also heard cross-appeals filed by some respondents in the matter.
The case is part of a wider internal leadership dispute within the PDP, which has continued to generate legal and political tensions over the legitimacy of its national structure and conventions.
