The Kano State Government has approved the payment of ₦4 billion to cover examination fees for about 130,000 secondary school students.
The intervention brings relief to many families, easing the financial pressure on parents and ensuring eligible students can sit for external exams.
Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf announced the decision during the 39th State Executive Council meeting, noting that the beneficiaries passed the state’s qualifying examination.
He explained that the funding guarantees that all successful candidates are registered for key external examinations without financial barriers.
The governor also linked recent academic improvements, including strong 2025 NECO performance, to the state’s earlier declaration of an emergency in the education sector.
At the same meeting, he expressed confidence in Deputy Governor-designate Mustapha Garo ahead of his swearing-in.
In addition, the administration is continuing widespread construction and rehabilitation projects in schools as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the education system.
