The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has warned Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) against violating approved recruitment procedures, stating that defaulters risk prosecution and other legal sanctions.
Speaking during a press briefing on new recruitment reforms for the Federal Public Service, FCC Executive Chairman, Hulayat Omidiran, said the Commission would no longer tolerate irregular recruitment practices that undermine fairness, transparency, and equitable representation in federal employment.
According to her, agencies with more than 125 vacancies must advertise openings in at least two national newspapers and on the FCC’s official website for a minimum of six weeks, while the Commission must also be notified before recruitment exercises commence.
The FCC further directed that all recruitment records, including shortlisted candidates and final selection lists by state of origin, must be submitted for verification before a Certificate of Compliance can be issued.
Omidiran emphasized that the new measures are designed to strengthen accountability and ensure strict adherence to the Federal Character Principle as provided by the Constitution.
