Nigeria and the United States have intensified their counterterrorism operations in the Northeast, with joint airstrikes reportedly killing 175 Islamic State fighters and several high-ranking ISWAP commanders.
According to the Nigerian military and AFRICOM, the coordinated offensive dealt a significant blow to terrorist networks operating in the region, destroying strategic targets and disrupting operational structures.
Among those reportedly killed was Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, described as a key global IS operative involved in weapons development, explosives, drone production, and financial coordination for the terrorist group.
Military authorities say the sustained operations underscore the growing security collaboration between Nigeria and the United States in the fight against terrorism and insurgency across the region.
