Comedian Kevin Chinedu, popularly known as Kevinblak, has revealed that officials of a political party allegedly offered him large sums of money in dollars to tone down or alter his satirical skits criticising political leaders and governance.
Speaking on ARISE TV’s Arise 360, the comedian, known for his “Governor Amuneke” character, said the approach came during a difficult personal period when he was facing financial pressure following his wife’s Caesarean section.
According to him, the officials promised to “change his life” financially if he agreed to adjust the direction of his content. He said he was invited to Abuja with assurances of significant monetary rewards.
Despite the pressure, Kevinblak said he rejected the offer, insisting that his creative integrity and personal principles were more important than financial inducement. He added that even people within his close circle had faced similar approaches but declined them as well.
The comedian, however, declined to name the political party involved, cautioning against speculation.
He maintained that his content would continue to reflect his personal convictions, stressing that his satire is driven by creative expression rather than external influence.
