Former Rivers State Governor and presidential aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rotimi Amaechi, has dismissed speculations that he joined the 2027 race to negotiate for a vice-presidential position.
Speaking during a media interview in Abuja, the former Minister of Transportation insisted he entered the contest because he believes he has the experience, competence, and leadership capacity to govern Nigeria.
“I did not buy form to be vice president,” Amaechi stated firmly, while also rejecting reports of any consensus arrangement within the ADC ahead of the party’s primaries.
Amaechi argued that Nigeria requires experienced but energetic leadership to address its economic and governance challenges, citing his roles as former Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, and Minister of Transportation as part of his qualifications.
He also stressed the importance of national inclusion and power rotation, saying every region must feel a sense of belonging within the federation.
