Nigeria’s global music stars Wizkid, Asake, Tems, and Burna Boy have received major nominations at the 2026 BET Awards, further highlighting Afrobeats’ global dominance.
The nominations, announced for the ceremony scheduled to hold on June 28, 2026, in Los Angeles, feature Nigerian artistes across multiple categories including Best Group, Best Collaboration, and individual performance awards.
Wizkid and Asake were jointly nominated in the Best Group category following their successful collaboration, while Tems earned multiple nominations including Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, BET Her Award, and Viewer’s Choice Award for her collaboration with Dave.
Burna Boy was nominated in the Best Collaboration category for his feature on Gunna’s track WGFT.
The BET Awards continue to recognize the growing global influence of Nigerian music, with past winners including Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tems, Davido, and Ayra Starr.
Beyond music, actors of Nigerian descent such as Damson Idris, Ayo Edebiri, and Cynthia Erivo also received nominations in major acting categories.
Cardi B leads this year’s nominations with six nods, followed by Kendrick Lamar and Mariah the Scientist.
The awards will also introduce new categories including Fashion Vanguard and Pulse Award, expanding recognition across culture, fashion, and digital media.
