The Ghana Football Association has officially appointed Carlos Queiroz as the new head coach of the senior national team, the Black Stars.
In a statement released on Monday, the Association highlighted Queiroz’s vast experience at the highest level of international football, particularly in the FIFA World Cup.
The Portuguese tactician previously led South Africa to qualification for the 2002 FIFA World Cup, guided Portugal to the knockout stage in 2010, and managed Iran at both the 2014 and 2018 editions of the tournament.
Queiroz has also handled top teams and national sides including Real Madrid, Manchester United, Egypt, Oman, Japan, and Qatar.
He is expected to assume duties immediately as Ghana intensifies preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
Ghana will open its group-stage campaign against Panama on June 17, 2026, in Toronto, before taking on England and Croatia in subsequent matches.
