The Supreme Court of Nigeria has scheduled April 22, 2026, to hear two appeals filed by a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by Kabiru Turaki.
The group is seeking to overturn a Court of Appeal ruling that invalidated the party’s Ibadan National Convention held in November 2025.
A five-member panel headed by Lawal Garba granted an accelerated hearing, ordering all parties to file their responses within five days due to the urgency tied to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) timetable ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The appeals also involve factions loyal to Nyesom Wike and a separate case against Sule Lamido, who had challenged his exclusion from the party’s chairmanship race.
The outcome of the hearing is expected to shape the leadership structure of the PDP as preparations intensify for 2027.
