The Labour Party has released its timetable and schedule of activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, outlining key dates for primaries, nomination processes, screening, and appeals across all elective positions.
According to the party, the primaries will be conducted in two phases. The House of Assembly and governorship primaries are scheduled for May 27, 2026, while the National Assembly and presidential primaries will hold on May 29, 2026.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Ken Asogwa, the party said the timetable complies with the Nigerian Constitution, the Electoral Act, and INEC’s revised schedule for the 2027 elections.
The sale of nomination forms will run from May 6 to May 16, 2026, while submission of completed forms is set for May 17 to May 18. Screening of aspirants will follow, with House of Assembly and governorship categories scheduled for May 20, and National Assembly and presidential aspirants on May 22. Screening results will be released on May 23.
Appeals for House of Assembly and governorship aspirants will be heard on May 24, while National Assembly and presidential appeals are scheduled for May 25. The final list of cleared candidates will be published on May 26, 2026.
Nomination Fees
The party also announced its nomination fees:
- House of Assembly: ₦3 million
- House of Representatives: ₦5 million
- Senate: ₦10 million
- Governorship: ₦25 million
- Presidency: ₦50 million
It noted that governorship aspirant Alex Otti will receive his form free of charge from the National Working Committee (NWC).
Concessions for Special Groups
The Labour Party said female aspirants, persons with disabilities, and youths aged 25–30 will only pay for expression of interest forms, as part of its commitment to equal opportunity and social justice.
The party also urged all prospective aspirants yet to register to complete their membership e-registration before May 4, 2026, ahead of the primaries.
