The Osun State Government has deposed Oba Gbenga Joseph Oloyede as the Apetumodu of Ipetumodu and declared the traditional stool vacant.
According to the state government, the decision followed due consultation, legal review, and approval by the State Executive Council. The move was taken in line with the Osun State Chiefs Law and other relevant legal provisions governing traditional institutions.
The government also noted that the monarch was convicted in the United States over COVID-19-related fraud and is currently serving a prison sentence. All instruments of office, including the staff of office, have been withdrawn, while the stool remains vacant pending succession processes.
Security agencies have been directed to maintain peace in Ipetumodu, while residents and stakeholders are urged to remain calm and law-abiding.
